The West Paydar oilfield discovered in 1980 by NIOC and the main reservoirs of the field are the Asmari and Bangestan. Its production from Bangestan reservoir started in 1995. The field straddles between Iran and Iraq (Dezful Embayment in SW Iran), about 150 km north-west of Ahwaz and 21 km west of the Paydar Field.
In July 2016, this field was entrusted to MAPSA CO. from ICOFC, with a 24-month-long project for full field study and MDP preparation. The results of this project will aid ICOFC for future planning in the development of Sarvak and Asmari reservoirs.
